Our coffee is acquired through
long-term contracts with coffee-growing, farmer-families, indigenous
agricultural enterprises & cooperatives. It is then graded, processed,
and warehoused for worldwide distribution. Our goal is to source
the highest-quality
coffees, while maintaining the environment and improving the lives of our
coffee-growing farmers and our surrounding communities.
Our wholesale target market are commercial coffee
roasters in the US, Canada, Korea, Japan, Germany & Scandinavia. Our
retail target market are home coffee roasters located worldwide (not just
in our wholesale target markets). We sell
professionally graded-and-cupped, green coffee by the container load (FCL), but
also care enough to sell
it by the pound, partial bag, full bag, or pallet. Of course, prices decrease substantially as quantity increases,
but we treat all our customers the same. We ship every business day and
we will be more than happy to include you as one of our happy, satisfied,
repeat customers.
Our Bolivian coffee comes from the
Yungas region (Caranavi, Apolo and Alto Beni). Most of these
high-altitude, shade-grown coffee beans come
from Colonias San Ignacio, Calama and Siete Estrellas.
Our Costa Rican coffee comes form the renown Tarrazu
region and the West Valley. Our Brazilian coffees come from Sul Minas,
Alto Mogiana in the state of Sao Paulo and from the state of Bahia.
Our coffee is single origin, not blended
to lower the cost, but kept separate by farm, estate or
Colonia to maintain its distinct flavor and quality characteristics.
This is why every green coffee offering that we have includes crop year,
grade, and name of the farm (or farmer) where it came from.
Most of our coffee is organically or
sustainably grown in altitudes above 3,000 feet. We don't buy
coffee from low areas where coffee was "not meant to be grown", which have
to rely on anti-fungus chemicals, pesticides and excessive amounts of
artificial fertilizers.
We buy our coffee by paying above market rates for quality
and directly to the farmers. We don't have anything against middlepersons
(sometimes they provide a very valuable service) but we want to
concentrate on making sure the growers are the ones that receive a fair
benefit of their labor. We insist that every mature bean
is carefully hand-picked, de-pulped, washed and dried to maintain its quality.
Throughout the year (not just at harvest time) we visit each
producing farm and inspect their fields, trees and processing facilities.
We talk to the field workers an confirm that they are treated right. In
Bolivia we have a nice Apthapi (indigenous pot luck supper, served on the
ground, shared by all), followed with a tasting of the farmers’ pride
coffee.
We buy the best beans on the spot, always paying above the
going rate, and take them to our processing facilities for further
testing, grading and cupping. Only then will we put our name on the
coffee. Invalsa Coffee ®

We stock and
sell high-quality, graded Bolivian, Costa Rican, Brazilian
coffees. Almost all of our coffee beans are organic, some are Fair Trade,
and none have defects (rocks, ferment, insect attacks, mold, etc). We
carry Premium, Specialty,
Micro Lots, National
Winners (ACE
Certified) &
Cup of Excellence®
coffee beans. Our current COE selections include coffees from
Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and
Rwanda.
Among coffee cultivars (varietals) in Bolivian and Costa
Rica we seek the red Tipica (aka Criolla, Bourbon), Yellow Catuai, & Red
Caturra. In Brazil we look for Bourbon, Yellow Catuai, & Novo
Mundo, but we are always looking for something out of the ordinary and
that tastes great!
Our organic coffee beans are certified by BioLatina &
Ceres (both USDA agents). Our Fair Trade coffee is certified by TransFair (USA)
We cup, roast and drink our own coffee everyday. All our
customers are amazed how good our coffee is and most no longer
buy Bolivian, Costa Rican or Brazilian coffee from anyone else. Feel free to contact us if you have
any questions about coffee and about coffee roasting. All questions are
welcome and answered promptly.
Every coffee we sell we have tried ourselves
first. Only then, we are
comfortable putting our name on them. So take the time,
enjoy a good cup of coffee and send us some feedback. We love to talk
about coffee! Can't you tell?
