Why do we, when warranted, ship in 66-lbs boxes? If you buy coffee from other coffee importers you probably receive your coffee in 154-lbs o4 132-lbs bags. Almost all coffee is exported from origin in such large size bags. We import our coffee in either 154-lbs burlap bags, 66-lbs burlap bags, or 33-lbs vacuum-packed Mylar bags in order to take advantage of US package courier rates, which are lower than truck freight (LTL) rates, for quantities under 300 lbs. In the US (and Canada) it is cheaper to ship two 66-lb boxes than it is to ship one 132-lb bag. There are additional surcharges once a box/bag goes over 70-lbs. Other coffee importers ship via truck freight (LTL), even though it is more expensive than FedEx or UPS in packages less that 71 lbs because they don't have the capability to ship in less than 71-lbs boxes. It only makes economic sense to ship coffee via LTL if you are buying over 300 lbs at one time. If you buy in such larger quantities at one time, do not worry, we also ship in the more familiar 154-lbs burlap bags. With flexibility and price unbundling the buyer usually wins.

Moreover, and not a minor point, it is much easier to handle a 66-lbs box than it is to handle a 154-lb burlap bag. Besides, the box adds cushioning and minimizes coffee loss due to ripped bags. So not only do you get the best coffee from us (check our reviews!), you also get to pay less for shipping, and receive a more secure package. Isn't that what an exemplary coffee importer should do?
