During our regular, throughout-the-year, coffee farm (AKA "finca", "parcela" ) visits, we come upon some microlots, which we offer under the name of the individual farmer, the cooperative, the indigenous enterprise, or the estate. A sub group are the National Winners, which are coffees that have gone through an independent multi-judge evaluation and/or auction process, usually as submisions to the Cup of Excellence® competitions.
These coffees are unique, fully traceable and with a compelling story to tell. They are available only in small quantities and consequently more expensive. When purchasing these coffees we pay the grower(s) directly, at prices from one and half to three times the going market rate, in order to encourage them to continue making the efforts to produce such green coffee gems.
To preserve their superb quality and to allow these coffee beans to remain at peak flavor for years, we use cutting-edge storage techniques by vacuum-packing the beans at origin right after the pergamino is removed at the dry mill, the ideal time to do it, just prior to export. We then store these wonderful beans in our own climate and humidity controlled warehouses. |
