This lot is a 2009/10 crop and was vacuum-packed at origin.
We bought these peaberry coffee beans directly from Angel for the thrd year.
Angel Pamuri’s coffee farm is located at 1,070 meters above sea level. Born in Apolo, Angel has become a leading coffee grower in the region. He explained that he started growing coffee at a young age, helping his parents with their coffee farm. Thanks to the 2007 Cup of Excellence® and the money he has earned at the International auction, Angel has increased his production and has invested in the education and health of his four children, and hs improved his quality of life.
Angel’s farm is located within the Integrated Management Area of the Madidi National Park. The coffee plants are fertilized organically with coffee pulp and the farm is richly forested, housing a great diversity of animal and plant life. Angel's coffee is grown without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides, but it does not have organic certification. The lack of certification, which is expensive, is typical for very small farmers. It has been beyond Angel's means. Funds from the Cup of Excellence® (and our purchase) should go a long way towards obtaining certification. Organic Certification requires yearly visits by inspectors and at least three successive years of organic practice.
