Grown under organic conditons, however, it does not have organic certification.
This lot is a 2009/10 crop and was vacuum-packed at origin.
We bought this Micro Lot directly from Felix Chambi, who is very well known and respected in Bolivian coffee circles, for the second year. Felix does not belong to any Cooperative and owns his farm where he works the coffee plants with his long-time girlfriend, Maria Luisa, an accomplished coffee extension worker. Felix was the Cup of Excellence head roaster for the 2007 & 2008 competition and made such an impression with the international juges that a major roaster from Sweden offered him a job and wanted him to move to Stockolm.
Felix farm is located in Colonia Alto Lima in the Province of Caranavi, Department of La Paz, Republic of Bolivia. It is located at an altitute of 1,400 meters (4,200 feet) and produces a combination of Tipica and Caturra Arabica coffee varieties. We have developed a wonderful business and personal relationship with Felix and Maria Luisa and we expect to be buying thier coffee production for years to come.
